Former Mexican mirror vote 07

18,00

Mexican ex voto or milagrito of cut, folded, embossed, lacquered and hand enameled brass with a small mirror in the center. It is made in Oaxaca, southern Mexico. They are very decorative, have bright colors and no two are alike. Place it on the wall, on a table or hang it with a pin from the headboard of the bed.

The votive offerings have a religious meaning and are related to a “vow”, a promise, petition or thanksgiving made to a saint or the Virgin. Traditionally, they were very explanatory illustrations left by the faithful in churches, illustrating how a “little miracle” had allowed them to get out of very complicated situations.
