Cusquenian blanket 167x161cm of sheep’s wool woven high in the Andes. One of the most striking rugs we have on the web. The shades of orange make it very bold.

This Cusquenian blanket is hand-woven in the South American Altiplano. It has been woven on a wooden loom which is tied at one end to a pole and at the other to the weaver’s waist. An alpaca bone is used to plait the wool when weaving the patterns. As it is such a manual work, it can present small irregularities and ‘perfect’ imperfections.

Ethnic looms are made of 100% sheep’s wool dyed with natural pigments. Its colour may vary and it is sensitive to direct light.
